Miguel Cabrera homered for the second straight day and Brad Penny pitched five solid innings to lead the Detroit Tigers past the Minnesota Twins, 4-3 Thursday.

Danny Worth singled in the bottom of the ninth, scoring Don Kelly for the winning run.

Cabrera’s long home run nearly cleared the left field berm at Lakeland’s Joker Marchant Stadium and was his third of the spring. He boosted his average to .357. Ryan Raburn hit his second homer of the spring for the Tigers.

Penny allowed three hits and walked three during his five innings. He gave up a homer to Luke Hughes late in his final inning.

Tigers manager Jim Leyland said he knew Cabrera would rebound from his slow start. Cabrera says he is ready for opening day. Cabrera was 2 for 3 on the day with a sharp double down the left field line.
