The Chicago Blackhawks enjoyed one of the perks of being Stanley Cup champs on Friday when they were honored at the White House. Their hosts on Sunday won't be nearly as hospitable.
The Hawks come to the Verizon Center for their only meeting of the season with the surging Washington Capitals. The Caps have won their last seven games, including Friday's 2-1 home victory against Carolina. The Hawks have been off since Wednesday's 4-3 shootout loss at Tampa Bay.
NBC will air the game, beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET.
There are four more games on Sunday's schedule, beginning at 3 p.m. ET when Edmonton visits Pittsburgh. The Penguins lost 3-0 at home to Montreal on Saturday, while the Oilers fell 2-1 in overtime at Detroit on Friday night. Also at 3, Dallas continues its seven-game homestand by hosting Los Angeles. Both teams won Friday -- the Stars blanked Minnesota 4-0, while the Kings won 4-2 at Columbus.
The Buffalo Sabres, who ended their seven-game road trip by losing 4-3 at Toronto on Saturday, return home to host Ottawa at 5 p.m. ET. The Senators have won their last three games, all by a 2-1 score.
In the day's final game, Phoenix starts a road trip with a visit to Anaheim at 8 p.m. ET. The Coyotes have been off since Thursday's 3-0 home win against Calgary, while the Ducks are coming off a 6-2 win at Colorado on Friday. The game can be seen in Canada on the NHL Network.
