Giants score 4 in 1st, go on to top Padres 6-4

Emmanuel Burris drove in two runs in the first inning with a double, and Travis Ishikawa and Brandon Belt each added run-scoring singles to lead the San Francisco Giants to a 6-4 win over the San Diego Padres on Friday night.

Padres right-hander Mat Latos struggled in the first for the third time this spring, allowing four runs.

"The first inning, they put the ball in play and found holes," Latos said. "I was throwing strikes, doing what I wanted to do. I bounced a few curves, but I felt alive, felt like I got in a good groove after the first."

San Diego reliever Samuel Deduno later gave up a two-run homer to Mike Fontenot in the fifth inning.

Tim Lincecum allowed three runs — one earned — in four innings of work for the Giants, who made three errors behind their ace. The lone earned run off Lincecum was a third-inning solo homer by Orlando Hudson.

Lincecum threw 62 pitches in his fourth outing of the spring.

"I hadn't pitched much with men on base, so this was good from that standpoint," Lincecum said. "Other than a first-inning walk, I think I did OK. I threw a lot of sliders for strikes, and worked on reading game situations. And I think I had a good fastball, too."

Aaron Rowand and Belt each had two hits for the Giants.

Logan Forsythe had three hits for the Padres and Eric Patterson had two. Will Venable and Kevin Frandsen each stole two bases for San Diego.
