WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – John Holland scored 16 points and Boston University defeated Hartford 55-49 on Sunday night in the America East Conference semifinals.
The second-seeded Terriers (20-13) will take a 10-game winning streak into the conference championship Saturday against No. 5 seed Stony Brook. The Terriers will be playing in their 15th America East Conference title game.
In a tight game that saw 13 lead changes, a 3-pointer by Matt Griffin with 5:09 remaining gave the Terriers the lead for good at 45-43. Holland made 9 of 10 free-throw attempts, including 5 of 6 in the final 1:07 to secure the win.
The Terriers have won seven of their past eight games against Hartford.
Patrick Hazel added 10 points for the Terriers, who made 20 of 22 free-throw attempts while Hartford was only 2 of 5.
Genesis Macial and Morgan Sabia each scored 13 points for the Hawks (11-20).
