MIAMI (Reuters) - Boston Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett has been cleared for physical activity after suffering a mild concussion, but the former World Series MVP will miss his scheduled start Thursday, the team said on Wednesday.
"He's allowed to do some activity," Red Sox manager Terry Francona told reporters. "Now again, they have to kind of monitor his activity. He'll do some biking and some light throwing and see how he progresses from there."
Beckett won a World Series championship with Boston in 2007 and was named Most Valuable Player of the 2003 World Series after helping the Florida Marlins beat the New York Yankees.
