Joe Zeglinski scored 22 points and Hartford defeated New Hampshire 62-54 Sunday in the regular-season finale for both teams.
The victory gives the Hawks (10-19, 7-9 America East Conference) the sixth seed in this week's conference tournament and a berth opposite third-seeded Maine. The Wildcats (12-17, 6-10) lost their third in a row and fell to the seventh seed, which means they will play second-seeded Boston University.
Hartford outrebounded New Hampshire 42-32, led by Morgan Sabia's 10 boards, and held the Wildcats to 35.3-percent shooting (18 of 51). The Hawks, who led 31-23 at halftime, built their lead to 18 points on Clayton Brothers' 3-pointer with 12:22 left. The final margin was as close as the Wildcats came.
Tyrone Conley and Brian Benson each led New Hampshire with 16 points, and Benson added 15 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.
