An assistant coach for a Colorado professional hockey team was suspended for the season after he became upset at referees and proceeded to strip his clothes off.
Greg Pankewicz of the Central Hockey League’s Colorado Eagles was angered after a referee pushed one of his players away from a series of fights that occurred during the team’s 5-1 win on Saturday.
The assistant coach then threw his jacket, shirt and shoes onto the ice and launched a tirade at the official wearing only his pants and socks, CBS Denver reports.
“The Central Hockey League will not tolerate such behavior and found Mr. Pankewicz’s conduct to be completely unacceptable to our member clubs, the officiating staff and our fans,” said the league’s commissioner in a statement. The CHL decided to suspend Pankewicz for 14 games – the remainder of their regular season.
