Blues trade captain Brewer to Lightning for prospect

ST. LOUIS (Reuters) - The St. Louis Blues traded captain Eric Brewer to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for a prospect and 2011 draft pick, the teams said on Friday.

The 31-year-old defenseman, who was in his sixth season with the Blues, recorded eight goals and 14 points in 54 games with St. Louis this season.

"He is an outstanding veteran who will help solidify our defense as we move toward the end of the regular season," Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman said in a statement.

In exchange for Brewer, the Blues attained the rights to prospect Brock Beukeboom and a third-round draft choice.
