Falando Jones scored 15 points and Terrence Joyner added 14 as Mississippi Valley State defeated Southern University 68-48 on Monday night, sweeping the season series.

Orlando Smith had 11 points and 13 rebounds for his third double-double of the season and his second in a row after posting 18 points and 16 rebounds in Saturday's win over Alcorn State.

Mississippi Valley State (11-15, 10-3 Southwestern Athletic Conference) has won 10 of its last 13 games after starting the season 1-12.

The Delta Devils, who defeated the Jaguars 65-62 on Jan. 17, jumped out to an 18-7 lead en route to a 34-26 advantage at halftime.

Southern got to 38-35 with 16:58 to go, but Mississippi Valley State used an 11-4 run to push the lead into double figures.

Quinton Doggett had a career-high 19 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Jaguars (4-21, 3-10), who have lost six in a row.
