OXFORD, Ohio – Allen Roberts scored 23 points to lead Miami (Ohio) over Northern Illinois 84-72 on Wednesday night.
Julian Mavunga added 17 points and 12 rebounds for the RedHawks (12-12, 7-3 Mid-American Conference), who have won four of their last five contests. Nick Winbush had 14 points, Orlando Williams 13 and Chris McHenry 12.
Miami shot 57.7 percent from the floor (15 of 26), including 7 of 11 from 3-point range (63.6 percent) in the opening half to take a 44-38 halftime lead.
A layup from Williams with 15:22 left to play capped a 14-2 run to start the second half as the RedHawks increased their lead to 58-40. Miami led by at least 12 the rest of the way.
Xavier Silas scored 14 points, Jeremy Landers added 13 and Tyler Storm 10 for the Huskies (7-15, 3-7), who have lost six of their last seven games.
Miami outrebounded Northern Illinois 37-27.
