Derrio Green scored 17 points and hit eight straight free throws in the final 4 minutes as Charlotte stunned Xavier 66-62 on Wednesday night.

Green, a 6-foot-2 junior guard, hit two free throws with 35.3 seconds left and then hit two more with 6.4 seconds remaining to hold off a late Xavier rally.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for Charlotte (10-12, 2-6 Atlantic 10 Conference) and a seven-game winning streak for Xavier (15-6, 7-1). The Musketeers, tied for the A-10 lead when the game began, fell a game behind Duquesne, which beat George Washington 84-59.

The 49ers also got 13 points from forward Javarris Barnett and 12 points from center Chris Braswell.

Guard Mark Lyons led Xavier with 25 points and forward Jamel McLean scored 17. But guard Tu Holloway, who scored 33 in Xavier's 85-62 win over Richmond on Saturday, was held to 12, nine under his average.
