Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey says he still hopes to play in the Super Bowl against the Green Bay Packers despite dealing with a high left ankle sprain.

Pouncey was off crutches at media day Tuesday, but still has a bulky walking boot on his left foot.

The rookie Pro Bowl selection says he "most definitely" thinks he's going to play Sunday, and says coach Mike Tomlin will give him "pretty much until the last day" to determine whether he can take the field.

Pouncey injured his ankle in Pittsburgh's 24-19 victory over the New York Jets in the AFC championship. He did not practice at all last week, and Tomlin has said Pouncey is "not on a running clock" until Wednesday — the team's first practice before the Super Bowl.
