St. Francis (N.Y.) beats Fairleigh Dickinson 86-77

Akeem Bennett scored 28 points and Ricky Cadell added 20 as St. Francis (N.Y.) handed Fairleigh Dickinson an 86-77 defeat Saturday night.

The Terriers overcame Fairleigh Dickinson's 42-27 rebounding advantage with accurate, long-range shooting. St. Francis made 9 of 19 from 3-point territory while the Knights were 1 of 11. Eight of the 3-pointers came in the first half, when the Terriers (10-11, 5-5 Northeast Conference) established a 49-34 halftime lead.

Fairleigh Dickinson led by one point five times, but the Terriers went on a 12-0 run to take control with a 24-13 lead and 11:21 left in the first half. The Knights fell behind by as many as 20 points, and it proved too deep a hole to escape.
