NEW YORK (Reuters) - Evgeni Malkin will join Pittsburgh Penguins team mate Sidney Crosby in missing this weekend's NHL All-Star game because of illness, coach Dan Bylsma said.
"He will not be going ... due to the sinus infection," Bylsma told the team website (http://penguins.nhl.com).
The All-Star game is scheduled for Sunday in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Russian Malkin also will not play against the New York Islanders on Tuesday because of the week-long illness.
Pittsburgh earlier said Crosby, the All-Star game's leading vote-getter, would miss the contest because of a concussion he suffered on January 5.
Atlanta defenseman Tobias Enstrom (broken finger), Edmonton forward Ales Hemsky (concussion) and Calgary captain Jarome Iginla (personal reasons) will also miss the game.
Minnesota right wing Martin Havlat and Phoenix defenseman Keith Yandle were named Tuesday as replacements. Philadelphia's Danny Briere previously was selected to fill Iginla's spot.
