Baltimore Orioles left-hander Troy Patton was arrested last weekend on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Houston police spokesman Victor Senties says the 25-year-old was pulled over after his car jumped a curb on a city street about 8:15 p.m. Sunday.

Senties says an officer spotted Patton driving erratically in the eastbound lane. The vehicle hit the curb, nearly collided with another vehicle and made two abrupt lane changes without a signal before the observing officer pulled him over, Senties said.

Patton was charged with a first-offense DWI, a misdemeanor. He posted a $500 bond and was released. A court date is scheduled for Friday.

A native of nearby Spring, Patton appeared in one game for the Orioles last season. He was drafted by the Houston Astros in 2004, worked his way through their system and made his major league debut late in the 2007 season.

Houston traded Patton to Baltimore in December 2007 in part of the deal that brought Miguel Tejada to the Astros.
