Kwame Morgan scored 20 points and Darrion Pellum added 16 to lead Hampton over Norfolk State 63-56 on Saturday.

The Spartans (2-13, 1-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) tied it at 54 with 2:05 to play. But the Pirates (13-4, 2-1) made 7 of 8 free throws the rest of the way, starting with Brandon Tunnell's foul shot to make it 55-54 with 1:28 to go.

Hampton handed Norfolk State its 12th loss in 13 games by holding it without a field goal for 3:32 down the stretch.

The Pirates scored 12 points off 18 turnovers by the Spartans.

Danny Agbelese had all eight of his rebounds and all five of his blocks in the first half for Hampton.

Norfolk State was just 1 of 16 from 3-point range (6.3 percent), and went without a long-range basket in 11 tries in the second half.

Kyle O'Quinn led the Spartans with 19 points and Aleek Pauline added 17.
