Canisius cruises to 72-51 win over Manhattan

Elton Frazier scored 18 points and Canisius pulled away at the end of the first half to defeat Manhattan 72-51 on Saturday.

Trailing 22-19, the Golden Griffins (8-8, 2-4 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) used a 16-2 run in the final 4:34 before halftime to take a 35-24 lead.

After George Beamon, who led the Jaspers with 21 points, opened the second half with two free throws, Greg Logins made a layup and Canisius maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Manhattan (2-15, 0-6), which has lost 15 straight, shot 33.3 percent (18 of 54) from the field compared to 46.7 percent (28 of 60) for the Golden Griffins.

Logins added 13 points for the Golden Griffins, who had a season-low six turnovers, one game after their previous low of seven against Rider.

Rhamel Brown posted his second consecutive double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds for Manhattan.
