RENTON, Wash. – Marshawn Lynch's epic 67-yard touchdown run that clinched Seattle's 41-36 upset victory over New Orleans in the first round of the NFC playoffs probably should have been stopped near the line of scrimmage.
New Orleans linebacker Scott Shanle had perhaps the clearest shot of stopping Lynch for a short-gain with about 3½ minutes left last Saturday. But Lynch shed Shanle and then proceeded to produce arguably the greatest run in Seahawks history.
Lynch went on to run through a half-dozen more tackles, including a massive stiff-arm of New Orleans cornerback Tracy Porter. It was the longest touchdown run of his career and is bring the Seahawks some notoriety for something other than its losing record.
Seattle will play at Chicago in the NFC divisional playoff Sunday.
