Amber Harris scored 23 points as part of a double-double, and No. 9 Xavier overcame cold outside shooting and held off Dayton 63-59 on Sunday in the Atlantic 10 opener for both teams.

Xavier (12-2, 1-0) hasn't lost an A-10 home game in the last three seasons. Harris took the lead in keeping the streak intact, fully recovered from a concussion that limited her the last three games.

The Flyers (9-6, 0-1) couldn't handle Harris, who made three consecutive baseline jumpers to help the Musketeers hold on in the closing minutes.

Harris' two free throws with 7.5 seconds left clinched it. She also had 11 rebounds.
