Nick Leon scored 20 points and St. Peter's defeated Canisius 63-55 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action on Monday night.

Jeron Belin added 12 points and Steven Samuels chipped in 11 for the Peacocks (8-6, 3-0), who improved to 4-0 at home this season.

St. Peter's led 28-25 at halftime and shot 55 percent from the field in the second half (11 of 20). The Peacocks finished shooting 20 of 46 (43.5 percent).

Canisius (6-7, 0-3), which snapped a two-game winning streak, was led by Alshwan Hymes with 16 points. Gaby Belardo added 14 points and Greg Logins 13 for the Golden Griffins. Canisius shot 35.1 percent from the field (20 of 57), despite scoring 23 points off of 16 turnovers by St. Peter's.

The Golden Griffins shot just 44.4 percent from the free-throw line in the game (8 of 18).
