Jagodzinski fired as coach of UFL's Omaha team

Jeff Jagodzinski has been fired as head coach of the Omaha Nighthawks.

The United Football League, the majority owner of the Omaha franchise, announced Monday that Jagodzinski was dismissed because the team's performance did not match the off-field success of the first-year franchise.

The Nighthawks sold out all four of their home games at 24,000-seat Rosenblatt Stadium. The team finished 3-5 in the five-team league after losing its last four games.

Jagodzinski is a former Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator and Boston College head coach.

The UFL is a haven for players who were cut in NFL training camps and veterans who want to get back to the NFL. Omaha's roster included ex-NFL stars Jeff Garcia and Ahman Green and former Ohio State star Maurice Clarett.
