Harden returns to Athletics with one-year deal

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Pitcher Rich Harden has returned to the Oakland Athletics after signing a one-year contract, Major League Baseball's official website said on Tuesday.

The deal is worth $1.5 million plus incentives, the website ( reported.

Harden, 29, pitched for Oakland from 2003-2008 before being traded to the Chicago Cubs in July 2008. He signed with Texas after the 2009 season.

The right-hander went 5-5 with the American League champions in 2010 but did not pitch in the postseason. He has a 55-34 overall record in a career hampered by injuries.
