DETROIT (Reuters) - Outfielder Magglio Ordonez has agreed to a one-year contract that will keep him with the Detroit Tigers for a seventh season, the team said on Friday.
The deal is worth $10 million to the 36-year-old, who has a .312 career batting average, Major League Baseball's official website (www.mlb.com) reported.
"Magglio is one of the top run producers in baseball and he has been a consistent contributor to our club for the past six seasons," Tigers general manager David Dombrowski said in a statement on the team's website (http://detroit.tigers.mlb.com).
His return solidifies the middle of of the Tigers' lineup, Dombrowski said.
The six-time all-star from Venezuela hit .303 with 12 home runs and 59 runs batted in in 84 games last season. He did not play after going on the disabled list in July 25 with a right ankle fracture.
