PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Marshon Brooks matched his career-high with 33 points and brought down eight rebounds as Providence defeated Alabama 82-70 on Saturday.

Brooks has scored at least 25 points in six straight games for the Friars (10-2).

Freshman guard Gerard Coleman put up a career-high 18 points for Providence and Vincent Council contributed eight points and seven assists.

Tony Mitchell led the way for the Crimson Tide (4-5) with 20 points, and JaMychal Green added 15 points and 11 rebounds. This was Green's first game back after a three-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team.

The game was a back-and-forth contest, and after the first half the score was tied at 40. However, the Friars put together a 19-3 run in the second half, grabbing a 78-64 lead that put the game out of Alabama's reach.
