DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Florida teen Jessica Korda shot a 3-under 69 on Saturday to take a two-stroke lead over Aree Song with one round left in the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament.
The 17-year-old Korda, playing as an amateur, had a 9-under 279 total at LPGA International. She's the daughter of former tennis star Petr Korda.
"My iron shots today weren't as tight as yesterday, but you just have to keep moving forward," Korda said. "Tomorrow's a brand new day and this is a matter of who makes the least mistakes."
The top 20 finishers will earn full 2011 exemptions.
Because of the tour's age restrictions, if Korda qualifies Sunday, she will seek special permission from Commissioner Mike Whan to play as a professional next year.
Song shot her second straight 71. Korda and Song played the Champions Course, the site of the final round.
"I played pretty well and hit the ball the best of all the rounds I've played this week," Song said. "I'm excited about tomorrow and what it could mean for next year."
Libby Smith (73) was third at 6 under, and Reilley Rankin (70) and Jin Young Pak (71) were 5 under.
