NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Houston Texans hope to have quarterback Matt Schaub on the field for Sunday's game against the Jets in New York despite being hospitalized this week with a knee injury, the NFL team said on their website.
Schaub received treatment and remained in hospital overnight on Tuesday, but was expected to return to practice on Thursday to test the knee, coach Gary Kubiak told reporters.
Back-up quarterbacks Dan Orlovsky and Matt Leinart took all of the Texans' snaps at practice on Wednesday, according to the team's website (www.houstontexans.com).
"Matt's a guy who's really a worker and likes to take all the reps, so really I don't get any but a handful," Orlovsky said. "So it was nice to go out there and be in our huddle, calling our stuff and running our plays.
"I'm excited about (starting) if it comes to that...the guys in this locker room know that I prepare like I have to take the first snap on Sunday. If needed, I'll be ready to go."
