Neftali Feliz Wins Rookie of the Year

Neftali Feliz has been voted the American League Rookie of the Year.

The Baseball Writers' Association of America made the announcement on Monday.

The Texas Rangers closer 20 first-place votes on the 28 ballots.

The flame-throwing right-hander set an American League record for most saves by a rookie. Feliz helped the Rangers reach the World Series for the first time in its 50-year history.

He was 4-3 with a 2.73 earned run average, had 71 strikeouts and was selected on the American League All-Star team.

In the post season, he pitched in seven innings and had 11 strikeouts.

San Francisco catch Buster Posey won the award for the National League.
