Panthers quarterback Moore ruled out for season

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Carolina Panthers quarterback job is up for grabs after starter Matt Moore was placed on the injured reserve list on Monday with a torn muscle in his right throwing shoulder.

Moore, 26, suffered the injury when he was sacked during Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints which dropped the Panthers to 1-7 for the season.

Fox would not say whether Jimmy Clausen or fellow rookie Tony Pike would start against Tampa Bay on Sunday.
