PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Matt Walker will undergo hip surgery Wednesday and be sidelined for 10 to 12 weeks, the NHL team said Tuesday.

The surgery in Nashville, Tennessee, will repair a boney impingement and a torn labrum in Walker's right hip, general manager Paul Holmgren said on the team's website (http://flyers.nhl.com).

Walker is believed to have injured the hip during a September 21 preseason game with the New Jersey Devils, the Flyers said.
