Detroit's Ordonez breaks ankle, out for eight weeks

DETROIT (Reuters) - Detroit Tigers outfielder Magglio Ordonez fractured his right ankle in a 3-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday and is expected to miss the next six to eight weeks.

He was thrown out at the plate in the third inning trying to score from first on a double by Miguel Cabrera when he slid awkwardly after his foot caught the ground.

Ordonez was hitting .303 with 12 home runs and 59 RBIs.
