Michael Jordan’s legacy is more than just a number.
Jordan was known for his intense competitive streak even on the practice court. Which is one of the reasons why he said yesterday that he would not have joined forces with the superstars of his era, the way James did with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh with the Heat.
"There's no way, with hindsight, I would've ever called up Larry (Bird), called up Magic (Johnson) and said, 'Hey, look, let's get together and play on one team,' " Jordan said on NBC after playing in a celebrity golf tournament in Nevada.
"But that's ... things are different. I can't say that's a bad thing. It's an opportunity these kids have today. In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys.”
James announced midseason that he would switch from the No. 23 to 6 next season out of respect to Jordan. TNT analyst Charles Barkley said the number on James’ back is not the only thing separating the two superstars.
