Molina hits for cycle as Rangers beat Red Sox 8-4

Boston (Reuters) - Bengie Molina knows he is not the fastest player in the world but the Rangers catcher was quick enough to complete the hitting cycle on Friday and help Texas beat Boston Red Sox 8-4.

Molina, who was acquired by Texas on July 1, singled and doubled in his first two at-bats and hit a grand slam in the fifth inning. He is just the eighth player with a grand slam as part of the cycle.

Having previously hit just five triples in his 12-year career, Molina gave little thought to hitting one on Friday but Red Sox center fielder Eric Patterson saw the ball deflect off his glove and bounce to the deepest park of Fenway Park in right-center field.

Molina was four-for four with four RBI's and one run scored. Following his triple, Joaquin Arias came in to pinch run for him, and Arias scored.
