CHARLOTTE (Reuters) - The Charlotte Bobcats have traded veteran center Tyson Chandler to the Dallas Mavericks as part of a five-player deal, the team said Tuesday.

Charlotte received center Erick Dampier, shooting guard Matt Carroll, forward Eduardo Najera and cash considerations in exchange for Chandler and center Alexis Ajinca, the Bobcats said in release.

Chandler, a seven-foot-one (2.16m), nine-year NBA veteran acquired from New Orleans last summer, averaged 6.6 points and 6.4 rebounds in his only season with the Bobcats.

"Our main goal this offseason was finding a way to reshape this roster and continue the momentum we have established," Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins said in a statement.

"We believe this deal will give financial flexibility and the ability to improve our team at the same time."
