Atlanta Falcons LB Robert James has been suspended without pay for the team's first four games of the 2010 regular season for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances, the league announced. James has been a non-factor (only appeared in one game in two seasons) since being selected in the fifth round of the 2008 NFL Draft.

Minnesota Vikings WR Sidney Rice is dealing with a lingering hip injury, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, announced via Twitter. Rosenhaus added that Rice does not anticipate that this injury will require surgery and he's hopeful that he will be fully healthy for the start of the season. Rice's potential absence is a problem since the Vikings only go three-deep at receiver.

As first reported by FOXSports.com, the Arizona Cardinals signed seventh-round pick TE Jim Dray. He signed a four-year, $1.84 million deal with a signing bonus worth $49,000. Dray was one of the best blocking tight ends available for the 2010 NFL Draft.

The Carolina Panthers signed third-round pick WR Armanti Edwards (5-11, 187, Appalachian St.) to a four-year deal worth $2.5 million with a signing bonus worth $171,000, a source confirmed. Edwards, who played quarterback in college, could see time as a slot receiver. Sources also believe he could line up in "Wildcat" formation this season from time to time. Nationalfootballpost.com first reported Edwards' deal.

The Cleveland Browns signed veteran WR Bobby Engram. Terms of the deal weren't announced, but it's likely a one-year deal. The 37-year old receiver didn't look like he had much left in the tank last season, but he's capable of providing solid leadership. He figures to compete for the slot receiver role against WR Chansi Stuckey.

The Detroit Lions released veteran S Daniel Bullocks, sources said. Bullocks signed his one-year, $1.176 million restricted free agent tender in April, but that salary is not guaranteed. Bullocks's release is sort of surprising since Detroit has a bunch of journeyman lined up to play opposite FS Louis Delmas.

The Oakland Raiders have released veteran LB/special teams ace Isaiah Ekejiuba, sources confirmed. He signed a three-year, $5.4 million deal back in 2009, which included a signing bonus worth just over $1.2 million. The Raiders will save $2.95 million with Ekejuba's release.

The Tennessee Titans have waived DE/OLB Jay Moore and undrafted free agent rookie TE Gerald Harris, a source said. Moore was originally selected in the fourth round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers.
