BASTAD, Sweden (AP) — Flavia Pennetta breezed through to the second round of the Swedish Open with a straight-sets victory Tuesday over Anna Brazhnikova.

Pennetta beat the wild card 6-2, 6-0 Tuesday as she chases a second title of the year.

Fourth-seeded Gisela Dulko took little more than an hour to beat another Swedish wild card, 16-year-old Ellen Allgurin, 6-1, 6-3.

Sweden has no players left in the singles competition after the country's No. 1, Sofia Arvidsson, lost 6-2, 6-4 to unseeded Anna-Lena Groenefeld.

"Mentally, I was still in the locker room," Arvidsson said. "I really wanted to do well here in Bastad but it just didn't work out that way."

Jill Craybas beat Rossana De Los Rios 6-3, 6-3.

Third-seeded Lucie Safarova beat Kathrin Woerle 6-2, 6-0, but sixth-seeded Angelique Kerber had to retire with a shoulder injury when 3-0 behind in the third set to Ana Vrljic.

Eighth-seeded Barbora Zahlavova Strycova hit four aces on the way to a 6-3, 6-0 win over Zuzana Kucova.

Sloane Stephens, Nuria Llagostera Vives and Arantxa Rus were also first-round winners.
