Albert Pujols says no to Home Run Derby

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Albert Pujols is passing on the Home Run Derby at this year's All-Star game.

The three-time NL MVP said Monday he's participated three times and felt he could say no this time around. Pujols' comments were first reported by FoxSports Midwest.

"I'm not doing it," Pujols said. "I don't care if they ask. I did it three times already and I enjoyed it.

"I don't feel like I want to do it this year, so that's it."

Pujols had 32 homers and 87 RBIs heading into the 2009 All-Star game in St. Louis. He had 15 homers and 48 RBIs the rest of the season.

Pujols is batting .305 with 16 homers and 52 RBIs.

The All-Star game is July 13 in Anaheim, Calif.
