NEW YORK (AP) — Liberty guard Cappie Pondexter scored 19 points and New York rallied to beat the Connecticut Sun 77-68 Sunday.

The Liberty trailed by 16 in the first half and looked as if they were going to be run off their home court. But New York turned held Connecticut to 22 second-half points to take control.

New York's Nicole Powell had 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Taj McWilliams-Franklin added 10 points for the Liberty's second consecutive win.

Connecticut rookie Tina Charles, from Brooklyn, had 10 points and 16 rebounds for the Sun, her 11th double-double of the season.

They forced 19 turnovers from the Sun.

Plenette Pierson's free-throws tied the game at 52 with a little more than three minutes left in the third quarter.

The Liberty followed up by taking their first lead with 2:57 left in the third, when Pondexter drove in for a layup.
