MIAMI (AP) — Texas third baseman Michael Young has set the Rangers' career hits record, getting his 1,748th on Wednesday night against the Florida Marlins to pass Ivan Rodriguez's mark.

Young got the tying hit with a seventh-inning double off the Marlins' Jorge Sosa, then broke it one inning later with a two-run single off Jay Buente. Young broke the record in his 1,416th game with the Rangers, 91 fewer than Rodriguez played.

The hit in the seventh was also the 332nd double of Young's tenure with the Rangers, 20 behind Rodriguez's mark.
