DENVER (AP) — Carlos Lee had three hits, including a tie-breaking RBI single in the eighth inning, and the Houston Astros rallied from a three-run deficit to beat the Colorado Rockies 4-3 on Tuesday night.
Colorado starter Jeff Francis left after seven innings with a 3-2 lead but the Rockies' bullpen could not protect it.
Pinch-hitter Michael Bourn singled off Matt Belisle (1-2) to start the eighth. He went to second on a balk and advanced to third on Tommy Manzella's one-out infield single. Franklin Morales relieved and Lance Berkman reached on an RBI fielder's choice. Rafael Betancourt relieved and Lee hit a broken-bat single to give the Astros their first lead.
Wilton Lopez (3-0) picked up the win in relief with a 1-2-3 seventh. Matt Lindstrom got three outs for his 14th save in 17 chances.
Brian Moehler, making his third start in place of injured Bud Norris, gave up hits to the first four batters he faced and trailed 3-0 before getting his first out.
Carlos Gonzalez and Seth Smith singled to start the game and Troy Tulowitzki followed with two-run double. Brad Hawpe singled off Moehler, who struck out four and walked three in six innings, to score Tulowitzki.
However, the Rockies could not score again, failing to get a hit against the Astros' bullpen over the final three innings.
The Astros pulled to 3-1 in the fourth when Jeff Keppinger doubled and scored on Manzella's single. They cut the deficit to one in the seventh when Lee doubled down the third-base line, took third on Hunter Pence's fly ball and scored on Pedro Feliz's groundout.
