DETROIT -- Johan Franzen's record-setting night on Thursday allowed the Detroit Red Wings to live to fight another day.

Franzen set a franchise record with six points (4 goals, 2 assists) as the Wings pummeled the San Jose Sharks 7-1 in Game 4 of this Western Conference Semifinal at Joe Louis Arena. The Red Wings still trail 3-1 in this best-of-7 series, which shifts back to HP Pavilion for Game 5 on Saturday night.

Franzen, who has scored in each of Detroit's 11 playoff games this year, spoke with the media after the game.

Q: How badly did you not want this series to end?

Franzen: Very much, that's for sure. You don't want to get swept; you want to show your home fans that you want to win this thing. We wanted to have a good game for them. We won this one and now we've got to win the next one.

Q: What's it like to score four goals in a playoff game?

Franzen: It's different. We were down 3-0 (in the series). We were just trying to win this game and then the next one. I can't get too excited.

Q: Did you feel your confidence wavering a bit?

Franzen: Goal-scoring wise, yeah. I haven't been able to put the puck in the net. Hopefully this can help me here.

Q: Did you find yourself pressing at all?

Franzen: No, I don't think so. I hope not.

Q: Did you do anything differently tonight?

Franzen: I don't know if I did anything different. The puck just seemed to come off my stick. I don't know.

Q: What is it about this team when your backs are against the wall … you've now outscored your opponents 13-2 in elimination games?

Franzen: We came out flying tonight. I don't know. That's a good sign. We have to keep winning here, so that's a good sign.
