Colorado Rockies President Found Dead in Salt Lake City Hotel Room

Colorado Rockies President Keli McGregor was found dead in a Salt Lake City hotel room Tuesday morning, according to Salt Lake City police.

Officers responding to a call from the Grand America hotel in the city's downtown found the 48-year-old McGregor in his room, dead of natural causes, the Denver Post reported.

"We didn't see anything suspicious," Salt Lake Detective Rick Wall told the paper. "He did pass away of natural causes. The official cause of death will be investigated by the Salt Lake City Medical Examiner's Office."

Rockies CEO Charles Monfort was traveling in Salt Lake City with McGregor on team business and was unable to reach him Tuesday morning in their hotel. Monfort asked asked the hotel to check on McGregor's room, and hotel staffers then called police, who found McGregor dead at 9 a.m. local time.

"Words cannot describe the level of shock and disbelief that we all are feeling this morning at the loss of Keli," Monfort said in a statement.

"Our thoughts, our prayers are with Lori and the entire family as we all try to cope and understand how such a tragic loss could occur with such a wonderful man."
