Texas Motor Speedway has a $100,000 debit to its account, and a disc jockey has a new name.
Fort Worth radio personality Terry Dorsey Wednesday agreed to legally change his name to TexasMotorSpeedway.com, accepting a challenge from speedway president Eddie Gossage. Gossage offered to pay Dorsey $100,000 to change his name for a year – and also to get a permanent TexasMotorSpeedway.com tattoo.
Dorsey accepted the offer on his Wednesday morning radio show and was scheduled to begin the legal process to change his name later in the day.
“It was my wife who convinced me to do it,” Dorsey said. “She said for the money Eddie was offering, it was something we couldn’t pass up.”
Gossage is scheduled to present the $100,000 check to Dorsey during pre-race ceremonies for the Samsung Mobile 500 Sprint Cup race at TMS April 18.
