White Sox and Angels split-squad call it 7-7 tie

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The Chicago White Sox and a split squad of Los Angeles Angels played to a 7-7 tie after nine innings Monday night.

Designated hitter Mark Kotsay hit a two-run home run, part of a five-run third inning for the White Sox.

Chicago's starting lineup consisted of nine players who could be in the lineup on Opening Day of the regular season next Monday in Chicago. Seven of the nine reached base in their first at-bat against Angels starter Anthony Ortega, who walked six in 2 2-3 innings.

Kotsay drove in three runs and starting pitcher John Danks allowed three runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts over 5 2-3 innings.

The Angels scored seven runs over the sixth and seventh innings, helped by three White Sox errors and a balk.
