Headley, Stauffer lead Padres past Reds

PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) — Chase Headley had a two-run single, Tim Stauffer pitched four shutout innings and a San Diego Padres split-squad beat the Cincinnati Reds 3-2 on Saturday.

Stauffer allowed two hits and struck out four. Sean Gallagher, fighting for a roster spot, followed the right-hander with two scoreless innings.

Micah Owings struck out three in three scoreless innings for Cincinnati.

Joey Votto hit a two-run homer off Padres closer Heath Bell in the ninth inning.
