PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP) — Oliver Perez threw four no-hit innings and the New York Mets hit four home runs Saturday in a 9-1 victory over a Detroit Tigers split squad.
Perez and reliever Hisanori Takahashi combined to no-hit the Tigers through the first six innings. Magglio Ordonez singled in the seventh for Detroit.
The Mets then erupted for nine runs in the seventh inning — getting home runs from David Wright, Daniel Murphy, Gary Matthews Jr. and a three-run shot from Jason Bay, his first as a Met.
For Wright, who hit just 10 home runs last year, it was his third home run of the spring.
