Figgins collects 2 hits as Mariners tie Royals 6-6

PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) — Chone Figgins ended his spring slump with two hits, including a two-run triple during Seattle's four-run fifth inning, and the Mariners tied the Kansas City Royals 6-6 on Friday.

Figgins, who signed a free-agent deal with Seattle over the winter, was 0 for 11 this spring.

The game was stopped after nine innings.

Ken Griffey Jr. also had his first two hits of spring training for Seattle, a one-hop double off the center-field wall in the fourth and a bloop RBI single that drove in Figgins in the fifth. Griffey also had a sacrifice fly in the first.

Matt Tuiasosopo homered for the Mariners.

Luke Hochevar pitched three innings for Kansas City, allowing a run and two hits.
