George Steinbrenner back at the ballpark

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — George Steinbrenner was back at the ballpark on Saturday.

The 79-year-old New York Yankees principal owner said he is "feeling good" when he arrived at the team's spring training complex to watch his grandson play in a high school game.

Robert Molloy, Steinbrenner's grandson, played first base for Tampa Prep in the game against Berkeley Prep. He went 0 for 2 and was hit by a pitch in the seven-inning contest the Boss watched from his suite.

Steinbrenner has made few public appearances since handing over daily control of the Yankees to his sons, managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner and co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner, in late 2007.

George Steinbrenner's daughter, Jessica, his wife Joan and Yankees manager Joe Girardi joined him in watching the game.

"It was kind of neat," Girardi said.
