Celtics pick up slam dunk champion Nate Robinson

BOSTON (Reuters) - The Boston Celtics have acquired the New York Knicks' high-flying guard Nate Robinson, the team announced Thursday on its website (http://www.nba.com/celtics/).

The Celtics acquired the three-time NBA Slam Dunk champion along with forward Marcus Landry in exchange for guards Eddie House, J.R. Giddens and forward Bill Walker.

Robinson should bring a scoring spark off the bench for a Celtics team that appears to be fading with age.

Fresh off winning his third Slam Dunk crown at All-Star weekend despite standing just 5-foot-9, Robinson is averaging 13.2 points per game while shooting a career-high 45.2 percent from the field.

In a separate deal for New York, the Knicks acquired forward Brian Cardinal from the Minnesota Timberwolves for center Darko Milicic and cash considerations.
