TORONTO (Reuters) - The slumping Toronto Maple Leafs acquired defenseman Dion Phaneuf and veteran goaltender J.S. Giguere as part of a three-team raft of trades on Sunday, the NHL reported on its website (NHL.com)

The Maple Leafs received Phaneuf along with right wing Fredrik Sjostrom and defenseman Keith Aulie from the Calgary Flames in exchange for defenseman Ian White, and forwards Matt Stajan, Niklas Hagman and Jamal Mayers.

A separate move saw Giguere sent to Toronto from the Anaheim Ducks for Jason Blake and Vesa Toskala.

The trades mark a major shake up of personnel for the Maple Leafs (17-28-11), who did not win until their ninth contest this season and are currently tied for last in the Eastern Conference.

"It was definitely a shock, but I'm very excited about going to Toronto and being a Maple Leaf," Phaneuf told reporters. "It's part of the business."
