Heat sign guard Rafer Alston

MIAMI (Reuters) - The Miami Heat have signed free agent guard Rafer Alston, the NBA team said in a statement on Thursday.

Alston, who was released by the New Jersey Nets on Tuesday, averaged 9.7 points and 3.9 assists in 27 games this season.

He has played for six different teams during his 11-year career, including the Heat during the 2003-04 season, averaging 10.3 points, 4.8 assists and 2.8 rebounds. Terms of the deal were not released.
